The articlle I choose was for music has to do with the popular pop star Ashlee Simpson. The article called “Ashlee Simpson and That Lip-Syncing Feeling” by Lisa de Moraes was about her big Saturday
Night Live Tragedy. Ashlee Simpson was caught lip syncing during a live television show. This caused a lot of controversy in her career because lip syncing is not considered a real performance for a music artist like herself. Many fans of hers were disappointed and it led them to believe she does this all the time. She was criticized a lot for this saying that she should really be famous and a music star if she can not really sing live. Ashlee said that is was a one time thing and the only reason she has to use a backing tract was because of her acid reflux. The article shows that many people did not believe this “excuse” because at first she has blamed the misunderstanding on her band, saying they had played the wrong song. Lip syncing is looked down upon in today’s music industry because artists make so much money they are expected to really be doing their job. Many fans lost interest in Ashlee because of this major disappointment but still many loyal fans are confident she has real talent. The music industry is very competitive and valued by many Americans so when someone is faking many people loose interest. Although this was a set back in her career, Ashlee continues to succeed with her music career making up for the disaster that happened last year. By not worry about what people thought of her or said she was able to over come and push forward with her career and dreams in the popular music industry.
